East Meets West: A Musical Dialogue Between Cultures

Join us for a unique afternoon exploring the meeting of Chinese and Western musical traditions through the timeless sounds of the guqin and the piano.

Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Taoyuan Qin Society and presented in collaboration with Confucius Institute Maastricht, this special event combines live performances, cultural talks, artistic dialogue, and interactive experiences. Through music, poetry, and storytelling, audiences will discover how different cultures interpret themes such as nature, emotion, heritage, and artistic expression.

The programme features acclaimed guqin artist Ms. Pengpeng Li and guest musicians, alongside introductions to Chinese musical culture, poetic imagery, intercultural collaboration, and contemporary interpretations of traditional works. The afternoon concludes with an open Guqin Masterclass, offering a rare insight into one of the world’s oldest musical traditions.

Whether you are a music enthusiast, student, cultural explorer, or simply curious about Chinese arts and traditions, this event offers an accessible and engaging introduction to the dialogue between East and West.
