Chinese Bridge 2023 language immersion camp!
Time for the 22nd edition of the ‘Chinese Bridge’ Chinese Proficiency Speech Competition 2023 – The Netherlands Final.
Have you been learning Chinese for a while? Would you like to share your story towards the theme “One World One Family”?
If you have missed the opportunity last year, this is your chance to register for the 22nd edition of the ‘Chinese Bridge’ Chinese Proficiency Competition 2023 for students in Dutch higher education, also called 汉语桥比赛!
汉语桥比赛 is an international Chinese speech contest that serves as a stage for cultural and educational interaction. It offers talented students the opportunity to demonstrate their language skills and gain confidence in their speaking. It is an event for Chinese language students to exchange and share their learning experiences. It also provides a stepping stone towards achieving academic and/or career goals. This year we are taking a slightly different approach.

Throughout the 3-day language immersion camp, you can level up your Chinese and work on improving your Chinese speaking skills.
The language camp will take place in the middle of nature on the weekend of July 7th -9th 2023. These 3 days are filled with various language workshops, cultural as well as sports activities and fun moments where we engage in this experience together with the support from our native coaches.
During the workshops, students will get the right tools to develop their speaking skills even further. The cultural and sports activities will be good for body and mind and the cozy moments to experience an unforgettable edition together.
The theme is “天下一家” (One World, One Family). We are already looking forward to getting to know all the participants better during this challenging weekend program where students can share their experiences with each other. At the same time, the experience will ensure that we create a close bond and embark on this adventure together, a proverbial 天下一家, in the middle of nature, in a beautiful location. The keyword here is together. Going on an adventure together as a group, learning from each other and most of all having a great time where new friendships are formed.
3 day program

07/07/2023 Day 1 – The first day is dedicated to getting to know each other.
08/07/2023 Day 2 – The 2nd day will consist of a number of workshops interspersed with short interactive activities all aimed at improving speaking and language skills.
Because we are in a beautiful location in the middle of nature, a piece of mindfulness should not be missing! In the evening we will host a talent show where each participant can share his or her talent with the group. Time to shine!
09/07/2023 Day 3 – The last day will also consist of various workshops working toward the grand finale; the speech where the students in turn can share their experience of the camp with everyone but also explain what the theme 天下一家 means to them personally. The evening will end with a nice diner.
Of course, there are some game rules during the camp;
– The whole camp is in Chinese and only Chinese will be spoken to each other.
– No phones allowed during the day time. The camp is meant to connect with each other and therefore as few outside distractions as possible are desired.
– Your talent will naturally have a Chinese flavor. E.g. Taiji performance, Chinese dance or song act, Calligraphy or Chinese painting. Use your creativity!
– You have at least HSK level 4 or equivalent. An intake may be part of the registration process.
Prizes
There are also great prizes to be won this edition! The participant who finishes first will become the winner of the Dutch final and will have the opportunity to travel to China to participate in the final international competition round. In addition, the top 3 finalists get a spot in our summer camp 2024 and can travel to China! More information about summer camp can be found here.
