Scholarship in China 2025

For the purpose of satisfying the growing demands of the international community for Chinese language teachers and facilitating Chinese language education in other countries, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) will continue with the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. Confucius Institutes, independent Confucius Classrooms, some Chinese Language Examination Centers, relevant foreign educational institutions, Chinese language teacher training programs/Chinese language faculties in universities, relevant Chinese language teaching organizations in foreign countries, and Chinese Embassies/Consulates in foreign countries (hereinafter referred to as the recommending organizations) are allowed to recommend outstanding students and in-service Chinese language teachers to study and further their studies in international Chinese language education and related majors at the University.

Qualification of Candidate

  1. Non-Chinese citizens
  2. Should be friendly to China, have no criminal record, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the DUFE.
  3. In good physical and mental conditions, and with a good record of academic performance and conduct.
  4. Aspire to Chinese language education, Chinese Language teaching, and related education careers.
  5. Be aged between 16 and 35 years on September 1, 2025. The maximum age limit for in-service Chinese teachers may be extended to 45, but those who apply for a scholarship for a Bachelor’s degree shall be younger than 25 under most circumstances.

Scholarship Coverage

  • Living expenses: RMB 2,500/month for one-year and one-semester trainees

Application Deadlines

  • September 2025 Enrollment – Apply by May 15, 2025
  • March 2026 Enrollment – Apply by October 31, 2025

How to Apply

  1. Register online at www.chinese.cn.
  2. Choose your recommending institution (Confucius Institute Maastricht) and host institutions.
  3. Submit application materials online.
  4. Track application status and confirm enrollment upon acceptance.

Other Information

  1. Applicants must submit valid HSK transcripts (valid for 2 years).
  2. Confucius Institute Maastricht is an official HSK test site and a recommending institution for this scholarship. You can contact us via email.

Those who have received the “International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate” through the Chinese Bridge competitions should log in to the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website and submit their application materials to their chosen host institution using the scholarship certificate.
