Chinese Bridge 2025 Immersion Weekend

It’s time for the 24th edition of the ‘Chinese Bridge’ Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Students 2025 – The Dutch finals!

The Chinese Bridge Competition is an international Chinese-speaking contest that serves as a platform for cultural and educational exchange. It provides talented students with the opportunity to showcase their language proficiency and build confidence in their speaking abilities. This event allows Chinese language students to connect, share their learning experiences, and inspire one another. Additionally, it serves as a stepping stone toward academic and career aspirations.

Curious? Step out of your comfort zone and join us for an immersive urban weekend in Rotterdam for an eventful three days!  These three days are packed with various language and cultural workshops, activities, and lots of fun. it’s all about creating memories, connection, and embracing the theme of “one world, one family”, all the while experiencing the vibrant city around you! Throughout the weekend, you’ll enhance your Chinese-speaking skills through interactive language workshops led by native Chinese teachers, participate in fun cultural activities, and explore the dynamic city center of Rotterdam. This unique experience is designed as a perfect blend of learning, discovery, and togetherness!

  • Date: The weekend of May 9th till 11th, 2025.
  • Location: Rotterdam, further details will follow.
Who can participate?
  • You are a college/university student in the Netherlands, aged between 18 and 30 years old.
  • You did not grow up in a Chinese-speaking environment, nor is Mandarin Chinese your native language.
  • You have at least HSK 3 level of speaking proficiency (no certificate necessary).
  • You were not the first-place winner of the Chinese Bridge last year (2024).
What to expect from the Speech Competition?
  • The speech competition takes place on the last day of the immersion weekend.
  • Students are asked to prepare a speech of 5 minutes before the immersion weekend, around the topic of “One World, One Family 天下一家“. The immersion weekend is designed to support and enhance their prepared speech, offering additional opportunities to improve their language skills and refine their speech.
Important to know
  • To confirm your attendance, we ask for a one-time fee of 50 euros (non-refundable).
  • The costs of accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, activities, and workshops will be covered by us.
  • The student is accountable for their own transportation to the location.
  • During the weekend, there will be a talent show where students can showcase their talents. Your performance should be related to Chinese culture. Think, for example, of: calligraphy, painting, music, dance, theater, poetry, sports, etc. Be creative!
  • Preparatory videos are required, which will be presented to the jury to check whether your Chinese language skills reach the requirements of the competition.
