This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival was a great success! On September 11th, 2024, CIM and ACSSNL Maastricht came together to host the Mid-Autumn Festival 2024. This festival also known as the Mooncake Festival or Moon Festival, used to be a festival in which family came together and celebrated the harvest of the year. Nowadays, the festival is more a symbol of reunion with family and friends and focusses more on good health and happiness. The event, held at the garden of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Maastricht, brought everyone together to celebrate one of the most cherished and well-known Chinese festivals.
Thanks to ACSSNL, we had lots of fun and diverse activities this year. For example, we made delicious snowskin mooncakes, which is a modern twist on the traditional Chinese mooncake. The modern mooncakes definitely were a hit, as many people joined this activity and enjoyed the process of making these easy delicious treats!
Besides the mooncakes, we had the Hanfu photoshoot, in which people could try out traditional Chinese Hanfu’s and make some beautiful pictures in. Furthermore, we had lantern painting, Qi Shan fan making and a fun traditional Chinese game called Tou Hu. Check out the pictures below!

We were very lucky with the weather, so it was an amazing afternoon in which families, friends, and individuals came to celebrate in a welcoming and open environment, making new connections and learning more about the rich cultural heritage of the festival.
We want to thank everyone for coming to the Mid-Autumn Festival and we look forward to seeing you next year as well!
