Celebrating the year of the Rabbit! This past Sunday CIM took part in a Chinese New Year celebration organized by the amazing Oriental in Maastricht. The main attraction during this event was the impressive traditional lion dance or 舞狮! The color of the lion; yellow, in Chinese culture stands for power, fortune, and the heavens, representing the imperial throne.
During this event, everyone was welcome to take part in several cultural activities such as Chinese calligraphy or Chinese painting. Especially the children really enjoyed the festivities and they could make their own rabbit painting to take home! Some people gave the shuttlecock game a try but were surprised by how challenging the game can be. However, having fun is most important and activities like these are also a way to connect with others.
