Introduction to the CTC Training

The International Chinese Language Teacher Training Program (CTC Training), organized by the Confucius Institute Maastricht (CIM) , aims to enhance the teaching abilities and professional development of Chinese language teachers worldwide. The program helps teachers deeply understand and apply international Chinese language teaching standards, thereby improving the overall quality of Chinese education. This program is designed for teachers, scholars, and educators in the field of Chinese education globally, offering a series of training sessions that combine theory and practice to promote the sustainable development of Chinese education.

From September 27 to 28, 2024, CIM successfully hosted the 2024 “Professional Competence Standards for International Chinese Language Teachers Workshop (Netherlands).” The event invited several experts to give lectures and share insights, covering topics such as professional development paths for Chinese teachers, second language acquisition, and Chinese cultural education. The lectures included Professor Ye Jun from East China Normal University, who interpreted the “Professional Competence Standards for International Chinese Language Teachers”; Dutch sinologist Igor Nuijten, who shared methods for second language acquisition; French sinologist Joel Ballassen, who discussed economic principles in Chinese teaching; Professor Bettina Mottura, Executive Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Milan, who explored cross-cultural issues in Chinese cultural education; Professor Fu Haifeng, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Milan, who explained the application of calligraphy in Chinese education; and Zhang Yingxuan, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Liège, who shared rich experiences in Chinese teaching resources and design. These lectures and practical guidance helped teachers enhance their professional skills and update their teaching concepts.

In the future, CIM will continue to promote the International Chinese Teacher Training Program. Based on the development needs of global Chinese education, CIM will organize more personalized and practical training activities to help Chinese teachers address the increasingly diverse teaching challenges and further promote the internationalization and localization of Chinese education.
