On <\/span>Monday, 20th Nov<\/span>ember<\/span> 2023, a delegation from <\/span>Dongbei University of Finance and Economics<\/span><\/i> (DUFE) from Dalian<\/span>,<\/span> representatives of<\/span> Zuyd University of Applied Sciences<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>and <\/span>participants <\/span>in<\/span> the <\/span>Chinese<\/span><\/i> Bridge<\/span><\/i> speech contest\u00a0 join<\/span>ed<\/span> the opening ceremony of<\/span> the <\/span>Chinese Teacher Certificate Test and Training Centre<\/span><\/i> (CTC) <\/span>at<\/span> Confucius Institute Maastricht <\/span><\/i>(CIM). From 2024 onwards, anyone from the Euregion who is interested in becoming a Chinese language teacher <\/span>and pursu<\/span>ing<\/span> a global career<\/span> can join a CTC training or take the CTC exam <\/span>at CIM<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CIM currently hosts\u00a0two CTC-certified trainee teachers, Chang Lou and Yue Zang, who had the opportunity to share their<\/span> inspiring<\/span> journeys of overcoming challenges and fostering top quality Chinese language education in the Netherlands<\/span>:<\/span> \u201c<\/span>During the training they taught us how to make our courses better to meet the needs of Dutch students. I learned a lot during the training, so I believe that CTC will help more people who want to become a Chinese teacher. The training has allowed me to identify issues and improve my teaching.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kateryna S<\/span>h<\/span>cherbakov<\/span>a, who teaches Chinese both at CIM and Zuyd, added<\/span> \u201cI fell head over heels for this captivating language, falling in love with it completely and realizing it would become a lifelong passion.\u201d By taking a Chinese language and education teacher training she was able to follow her passion to teach Chinese wherever she goes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mirthe Fischer, the <\/span>winner<\/span> of the Dutch finals of the 22nd Chinese Bridge speech contest, joined collaboration with CIM teacher Jin Xin for a spellbinding musical performance. Combining the traditional hulusi and the elegant violin, they performed the classic Chinese piece “<\/span>Jasmine Flower<\/span><\/i>.” This musical collaboration of hulusi and violin echoed the spirit of cross-cultural unity. Director Xinxin Wang <\/span>commented that<\/span> “hulusi and violin are from different musical families; it takes a lot of practice to learn both. Yet, there is always a way to work together and create empowering and harmonious music. This mirrors our work \u2013 through learning and practice, we can craft beautiful melodies together.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> chairman of Zuyd, Mr Andr\u00e9 <\/span>Post<\/span>e<\/span>ma<\/span>,<\/span> and the president of DUFE, Mr Fang Hongxing, congratulated the CIM team for this achievement and <\/span>encouraged the audience to continue <\/span>building<\/span> \u201cone world one family\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
