(maybe you haven\u2019t realized it yet)<\/p>\n<p>You might say, \u201cWell, it\u2019s just my job,\u201d or, \u201cThat\u2019s what I signed up for.\u201d But in a world shadowed by war, injustice, and suffering, simply showing up, completing your assignments, supporting one another, being curious about the different languages and culture and continuing to learn, that\u2019s a powerful, quiet kind of light.<\/p>\n<p>Recently during my conversations with my role models, I learnt something from their wisdom and way of doing things. I\u2019ve been reflection on what is <strong>Being and Doing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One idea that stayed with me comes from the Daoist principle of W\u00faw\u00e9i (\u65e0\u4e3a), often mistranslated as \u201cdoing nothing.\u201d It is something we feel like that we are doing when we are living in a world facing war, injustice and chaos?<\/p>\n<p>That is not what Laozi means.<\/p>\n<p>Wuwei invites us to pause, listen, and respond with awareness, not ego.<\/p>\n<p>As Laozi writes: \u201c<strong>\u8c01\u80fd\u6d4a\u4ee5\u9759\u4e4b\u5f90\u6e05\uff1f\u8c01\u80fd\u5b89\u4ee5\u52a8\u4e4b\u5f90\u751f<\/strong>\uff1f <em>\u201cWho can be muddy and settle into clarity? Who can be still and then come to life through movement?\u201d<\/em> (Dao De Jing, chapter 15)<\/p>\n<p>He is asking us: Do we have the patience and peace to wait until the mud (our mind, our heart) is settled and the water (our thoughts, our vision and our relationship) is clear?<\/p>\n<p>It is not passivity, it is refusing to mirror the chaos. It\u2019s an action choosing clarity, presence and compassion in the face of noise and confusion.<\/p>\n<p>So, what can we do?<\/p>\n<p>Confucius reminds us:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u8a00\u5fe0\u4fe1\uff0c\u884c\u7b03\u656c\u3002\u201d \u2014\u300a\u8bba\u8bed\u00b7\u536b\u7075\u516c\u300b <em>\u201cLet your words be sincere and trustworthy, your actions respectful and diligent.\u201d<\/em> (Analects, Wei Ling Gong)<\/p>\n<p>Laozi teaches us:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u5584\u8a00\u80fd\u6e29\uff0c\u5176\u8a00\u5982\u5170\u3002\u201d \u2014\u2014\u300a\u9053\u5fb7\u7ecf\u300b <em>\u201cGood words are like a warm breeze; their fragrance is like orchids.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Our words can strengthen, encourage and comfort each other. That is something each of us can offer calmly and compassionately.<\/p>\n<p>When we say goodbye to this semester, I\u2019ve like to encourage you to carry the intention forward:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In class, at work, with family:\u202f<strong>be fully present, respect every minute and appreciate each moment of life<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In conversation:\u202f<strong>speak with clarity, honesty and kindness<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In our communities:\u202f<strong>nurture peace, compassion and \u201cWuwei\u201d <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There\u2019s an old Chinese saying: <em>\u201c<\/em><em>\u4f17\u4eba\u62fe\u67f4\u706b\u7130\u9ad8\u201d<\/em>\u2014when everyone gathers firewood, the flames rise high. Together, our small, steady acts can create warmth and hope for those who suffer.<\/p>\n<p>In the new semester, I look forward to having our institute being a learning place that we are proud of our Center<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u4eb2\u7231\u7684\u540c\u5b66\u4eec\u3001\u540c\u4e8b\u4eec\uff1a<\/p>\n<p>\u590f\u5929\u5373\u5c06\u6765\u4e34\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e5f\u662f\u4e00\u4e2a\u505c\u4e0b\u811a\u6b65\u3001\u8ba4\u771f\u56de\u671b\u7684\u65f6\u523b\u3002\u4f60\u4eec\u5df2\u7ecf\u5b8c\u6210\u4e86\u4e00\u4ef6\u4e86\u4e0d\u8d77\u7684\u4e8b\u60c5\uff08\u4e5f\u8bb8\u4f60\u8fd8\u6ca1\u6709\u610f\u8bc6\u5230\uff09\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u4f60\u53ef\u80fd\u4f1a\u8bf4\uff1a\u201c\u8fd9\u53ea\u662f\u6211\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u201d\uff0c\u6216\u8005\u201c\u6211\u672c\u6765\u5c31\u662f\u4e3a\u8fd9\u4e2a\u6765\u7684\u201d\u3002\u4f46\u5728\u4e00\u4e2a\u88ab\u6218\u4e89\u3001\u4e0d\u516c\u4e0e\u82e6\u96be\u7b3c\u7f69\u7684\u4e16\u754c\u91cc\uff0c\u4ec5\u4ec5\u662f\u6bcf\u5929\u5982\u5e38\u5730\u51fa\u73b0\u3001\u5b8c\u6210\u4efb\u52a1\u3001\u652f\u6301\u5f7c\u6b64\u3001\u5bf9\u4e0d\u540c\u8bed\u8a00\u4e0e\u6587\u5316\u4fdd\u6301\u597d\u5947\u3001\u6301\u7eed\u5b66\u4e60\uff0c\u8fd9\u672c\u8eab\u5c31\u662f\u4e00\u79cd\u5b89\u9759\u800c\u6709\u529b\u7684\u5149\u4eae\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u6700\u8fd1\u6211\u5728\u4e0e\u4e00\u4e9b\u699c\u6837\u4ea4\u6d41\u65f6\uff0c\u4ece\u4ed6\u4eec\u7684\u667a\u6167\u4e0e\u884c\u4e8b\u65b9\u5f0f\u4e2d\u5b66\u5230\u4e86\u8bb8\u591a\u3002\u6211\u4e00\u76f4\u5728\u53cd\u601d\u201c\u5b58\u5728\uff08Being\uff09\u201d\u4e0e\u201c\u884c\u52a8\uff08Doing\uff09\u201d\u7684\u610f\u4e49\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u5176\u4e2d\u4e00\u4e2a\u8ba9\u6211\u6df1\u53d7\u542f\u53d1\u7684\u601d\u60f3\uff0c\u6765\u81ea\u9053\u5bb6\u7684\u201c\u65e0\u4e3a\u201d\u539f\u5219\u3002\u8fd9\u4e2a\u8bcd\u5e38\u88ab\u8bef\u8bd1\u4e3a\u201c\u4ec0\u4e48\u90fd\u4e0d\u505a\u201d\uff0c\u5728\u5f53\u4e0b\u8fd9\u4e2a\u5145\u6ee1\u6218\u4e89\u3001\u4e0d\u4e49\u4e0e\u6df7\u4e71\u7684\u4e16\u754c\u91cc\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u662f\u4e0d\u662f\u4e5f\u4f1a\u6709\u8fd9\u79cd\u65e0\u529b\u611f\uff0c\u89c9\u5f97\u6211\u4eec\u65e0\u6240\u4f5c\u4e3a\uff1f<\/p>\n<p>\u4f46\u8001\u5b50\u6240\u8bf4\u7684\u201c\u65e0\u4e3a\u201d\u5e76\u975e\u5982\u6b64\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u65e0\u4e3a\u201d\u9080\u8bf7\u6211\u4eec\u505c\u4e0b\u6765\uff0c\u503e\u542c\uff0c\u4ee5\u89c9\u5bdf\u800c\u975e\u4ee5\u81ea\u6211\u56de\u5e94\u3002\u6b63\u5982\u8001\u5b50\u6240\u5199\uff1a<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u8c01\u80fd\u6d4a\u4ee5\u9759\u4e4b\u5f90\u6e05\uff1f\u8c01\u80fd\u5b89\u4ee5\u52a8\u4e4b\u5f90\u751f\uff1f\u201d\u2014\u2014\u300a\u9053\u5fb7\u7ecf\u300b\u7b2c\u5341\u4e94\u7ae0<\/p>\n<p>\u4ed6\u5728\u95ee\u6211\u4eec\uff1a\u6211\u4eec\u662f\u5426\u6709\u8db3\u591f\u7684\u8010\u5fc3\u4e0e\u5185\u5728\u7684\u5e73\u9759\uff0c\u53bb\u7b49\u5f85\u5fc3\u4e2d\u7684\u6d51\u6d4a\uff08\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u601d\u60f3\u3001\u60c5\u7eea\uff09\u6162\u6162\u6c89\u6dc0\uff0c\u4f7f\u6c34\uff08\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u601d\u8def\u3001\u773c\u754c\u548c\u5173\u7cfb\uff09\u91cd\u65b0\u6e05\u6f88\uff1f\u8fd9\u4e0d\u662f\u88ab\u52a8\uff0c\u800c\u662f\u4e00\u79cd\u9009\u62e9\u2014\u2014\u4e0d\u53bb\u590d\u5236\u6df7\u4e71\uff0c\u800c\u662f\u5728\u55a7\u56a3\u4e0e\u56f0\u60d1\u4e2d\uff0c\u9009\u62e9\u6e05\u660e\u3001\u4e13\u6ce8\u4e0e\u6148\u60b2\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u90a3\u4e48\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u53ef\u4ee5\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\uff1f<\/p>\n<p>\u5b54\u5b50\u63d0\u9192\u6211\u4eec\uff1a<br \/>\n\u201c\u8a00\u5fe0\u4fe1\uff0c\u884c\u7b03\u656c\u3002\u201d \u2014\u2014\u300a\u8bba\u8bed\u00b7\u536b\u7075\u516c\u300b<br \/>\n\u8bf4\u8bdd\u8981\u5fe0\u8bda\u5b88\u4fe1\uff0c\u884c\u4e3a\u8981\u8bda\u6073\u606d\u656c\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u8001\u5b50\u6559\u5bfc\u6211\u4eec\uff1a<br \/>\n\u201c\u5584\u8a00\u80fd\u6e29\uff0c\u5176\u8a00\u5982\u5170\u3002\u201d \u2014\u2014\u300a\u9053\u5fb7\u7ecf\u300b<br \/>\n\u5584\u826f\u7684\u8bdd\u8bed\u5982\u540c\u6e29\u67d4\u7684\u5fae\u98ce\uff0c\u5176\u82ac\u82b3\u5982\u540c\u5170\u82b1\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u8a00\u8bed\u53ef\u4ee5\u7ed9\u4e88\u4ed6\u4eba\u529b\u91cf\u3001\u9f13\u52b1\u4e0e\u5b89\u6170\u3002\u8fd9\u662f\u6211\u4eec\u6bcf\u4e00\u4e2a\u4eba\u90fd\u53ef\u4ee5\u7528\u5e73\u9759\u4e0e\u6148\u7231\u7ed9\u4e88\u4e16\u754c\u7684\u793c\u7269\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u5f53\u6211\u4eec\u544a\u522b\u8fd9\u4e2a\u5b66\u671f\uff0c\u6211\u5e0c\u671b\u4f60\u4eec\u5c06\u8fd9\u6837\u7684\u5fc3\u5ff5\u7ee7\u7eed\u5e26\u5230\u65b0\u7684\u751f\u6d3b\u4e2d\uff1a<\/p>\n<p>-\u5728\u8bfe\u5802\u4e0a\u3001\u5de5\u4f5c\u4e2d\u3001\u5bb6\u5ead\u4e2d\uff1a\u5168\u7136\u5728\u573a\uff0c\u73cd\u60dc\u6bcf\u4e00\u5206\u949f\uff0c\u611f\u6069\u6bcf\u4e00\u4e2a\u751f\u547d\u7684\u77ac\u95f4<\/p>\n<p>-\u5728\u4ea4\u6d41\u4e2d\uff1a\u8bf4\u8bdd\u6e05\u6670\u3001\u8bda\u5b9e\u3001\u5e76\u62b1\u6709\u5584\u610f<\/p>\n<p>-\u5728\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u7fa4\u4f53\u4e2d\uff1a\u57f9\u80b2\u548c\u5e73\u3001\u6148\u60b2\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u201c\u65e0\u4e3a\u201d\u7684\u7cbe\u795e<\/p>\n<p>\u4e2d\u56fd\u6709\u53e5\u53e4\u8bdd\uff1a\u201c\u4f17\u4eba\u62fe\u67f4\u706b\u7130\u9ad8\u201d\u3002\u5f53\u6211\u4eec\u6bcf\u4e2a\u4eba\u90fd\u8d21\u732e\u4e00\u675f\u5fae\u5149\uff0c\u4e16\u754c\u5c31\u4f1a\u53d8\u5f97\u6e29\u6696\u800c\u5145\u6ee1\u5e0c\u671b\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u5728\u65b0\u5b66\u671f\u91cc\uff0c\u6211\u671f\u5f85\u6211\u4eec\u5b54\u5b50\u5b66\u9662\u6210\u4e3a\u4e00\u4e2a\u8df5\u884c\u201c\u65e0\u4e3a\u201d\u3001\u6211\u4eec\u90fd\u5f15\u4ee5\u4e3a\u50b2\u7684\u5b66\u4e60\u4e4b\u5730\u3002<\/p>\n<p>\u613f\u6211\u4eec\u5f7c\u6b64\u6e29\u6696\uff0c\u643a\u624b\u524d\u884c\uff01<\/p>\n<p>\u738b\u6b23\u6b23\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
