Tune in LIVE to the 20th Chinese Bridge Speech Competition

Looking to learn more about Chinese language and culture while supporting students showcasing their language abilities?

The 20th ‘Chinese Bridge’ Speech Competition is going to air LIVE on the 15th of July at 14:00 (GMT +1 Amsterdam).

We are thrilled to announce this year’s 5 contestants from universities in Leiden, Maastricht and Leeuwarden who will showcase their Mandarin proficiency skills and Chinese-themed talents during the competition.

CIM will broadcast the contest via livestream for easy audience viewing, with English subtitles available for non-Chinese speakers. This way, you can support all participants, and even practice your own Chinese by listening to everyone’s submissions.

One World, One Family

What can you expect? During the contest, the contestants will share live and pre-recorded videos for the following categories:

  • A speech on a self-chosen topic around the theme One World, One Family and a short self-introduction in Chinese.
  • A Q&A round in which participants will be asked one question about the Chinese language, Chinese culture, or Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) topics.
  • A talent demonstration where participants share one of their talents related to Chinese culture, such as Chinese calligraphy, poetry recitation, singing, martial arts, paper cutting, mask painting, etc.

Our contestants will be competing for exciting prizes! The 1st place winner can travel to China to compete in the global final competition round of the Chinese Bridge program.* Furthermore, the top 3 candidates will have the chance to secure a unique internship position at the Sino-Europe Services Desk of LIOF, the Rights Company, Limburg startup Eggxpert, or SEIPA and its international partners.
